Entrepreneurship Month

The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship invites all Florida State students to participate in eMonth activities taking place throughout the month of November.

Designed to foster a culture of entrepreneurship across campus, eMonth celebrates Florida State University’s entrepreneurial spirit and provides an introduction to the world of entrepreneurship.

This is a time when small actions unleash big ideas. No matter where you fall on the entrepreneurship spectrum – from accomplished entrepreneur to curious student, eMonth is for you.

InNOLEvation® Center Round Table

Monday, Nov. 2 from 12-1:30 PM

Anne A. Balduzzi, Founder of SameGrain, Inc. will be speaking on "App development and relevant tools to help You." Come join us in Rovetta Business Building #117 and learn about app development, the SameGrain platform, and how she went from AOL and Apple to App Developer.

Open to all FSU Students with an entrepreneurial interest.

Entrepreneur Law Clinic

Monday, Nov. 9 from 11 AM-1 PM

The Business Law Clinic for FSU student entrepreneurs is coming to Rovetta Business Building #117.

Richard Benham, the Entrepreneur in Residence for the College of Law and a 2005 graduate, has been a successful entrepreneur and has represented numerous entrepreneurs and start-ups. Benham directs the Business Law Clinic with additional assistance from students at the college.

InNOLEvation® Challenge Stage 2 Submissions must be received by midnight.

An Idea Goes Around the World: A StartUp-Festival 2015 Event

Global Entrepreneurship Week - Monday, Nov. 16 from 10 AM-12 PM Eastern Time

Countries participating (in order): UK, Brazil, USA (FSU), Mexico, Canada, USA (Hawaii), New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, India, UAE and Germany.

  • Social Challenge presented from University of East London (UEL)
  • 3 teams of 2 students each
  • Value Proposition developed by teams in UK and Brazil
  • Each team gets 2 hours to work on the next section of the BMC
  • FSU team is third in line
  • Final presentation developed by students at UEL
  • Student groups will pitch the concepts in front of a judging panel
  • Each team gets a log-in and works together at a laptop.

7 UNDER 30

Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 3:30-5:30 PM

The 7 UNDER 30 Speaker Series features 7 successful entrepreneurs who started businesses before the age of 30. This year, all of the entrepreneurs are alumni of Florida State University. They will speak for seven minutes each about their experiences in starting and growing a business, followed by a Q&A session. Light refreshments will be served immediately after the event.

Come for the speakers. Stay after for the networking opportunities and refreshments. Open to students and the public alike. Admission is free, but please register right away to reserve your place!

Entrepreneurship Student Business Exposition

Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 10 AM-3 PM on the College of Business back breezeway

Students in the Entrepreneurship Major showcase the enterprises they develop and launch through the Sophomore Experience - a class that takes place over the course of both semesters of their sophomore year. Students working in groups of three to five plan and launch, manage, and harvest a small business.

Three Countries–Three Startup Ecosystems: A StartUp-Festival 2015 Event

Global Entrepreneurship Week - Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 10 AM-12 PM Eastern Time

  • 3 panelists – 1 from each country, plus a host moderator
  • Panelists discuss hurdles and advantages of starting ventures in each country
  • Students from all countries submit questions via Twitter and Facebook
  • Presentation is streamed live to other schools/countries over the Internet
  • FSU students are invited to attend this live event

World Record Simulation Game: A StartUp-Festival 2015 Event

Global Entrepreneurship Week - Friday, Nov. 20 from 10 AM-4 PM Eastern Time

  • Student teams of 5 from each country (as many teams as possible)
  • Teams meet in front of one computer
  • Game lasts 3 ½ hours ( 10 AM – 1:30 PM)
  • 2:00 – 3:00 PM – Pitches/Visualizations by the top teams
  • 3:00 PM Award ceremony and celebration online
