Join fellow business alumni at new networking receptions throughout the nation

Jul 31, 2017

No matter what stage you are in your career, making new contacts can enhance and enrich your business and personal life. That’s why the College of Business is launching a series of alumni networking receptions in major markets across the country – Regional Opportunities to Interact (ROI) and Alumni Networking Happy Hours.

“We are partnering with the FSU Alumni Association for our ROI events to engage our alumni community and provide a setting to share news about the association and the college,” said business Dean Michael Hartline, who will co-host the events with the association’s president and CEO, Scott Atwell. “Our mission with this new series is to provide a return on investment to our alumni as they advance in their careers by offering valuable networking opportunities throughout the year.”

The first ROI event is set from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at The Tampa Club, 101 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, Fla. 33602. All Tampa Bay Seminole Club members and Tampa-area business alumni are invited.

Hartline, Atwell, and 2003 graduate Grant Mehlich, founder and president of GCM Insurance & Risk Management, LLC and president of the Tampa Seminole Club, will open the event with brief remarks and 1989 business graduate Brian Ford, chief operating officer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will be the keynote speaker.

RSVP by Aug. 16 at bit.ly/TAMPAROI2017 (case sensitive). If you have questions, email Marissa Langston, assistant dean for alumni and community engagement, at alumni@business.fsu.edu.

The next ROI events will be held in Tallahassee, Jacksonville and Atlanta. Dates and location information will be available soon and posted on our college events calendar at business.fsu.edu.

The Tampa ROI event follows several Alumni Networking Happy Hours hosted by the Recent Alumni Board in Charlotte, Chicago, New York City and Tampa late last month. The purpose of these events is to give alumni a heads-up on what is happening in their various industries and provide a forum for them to share ideas with like-minded colleagues and make career connections.

Upcoming Alumni Networking Happy Hours are also scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Fado Irish Pub, in Atlanta’s Buckhead area; and 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at American Social in Miami’s Brickell area.

These happy hours will continue to be hosted around the country throughout the year. Alumni will receive email invitations for events near them. For more information about the Recent Alumni Happy Hour networking events, please touch base with Langston via email.
