The College of Business and its specialty programs garner stellar rankings

Oct 02, 2017

The College of Business received some exhilarating news when U.S. News & World Report released its “Best Colleges 2018” guidebook. The college’s undergraduate program jumped 14 places to No. 27 among the nation’s public business schools, up 18 spots to No. 45 among all public and private business schools. This new ranking reflects the college’s continued path to preeminence.

U.S. News also ranked two of the college’s specialty programs in the Top 10. The Dr. William T. Hold/The National Alliance Program in Risk Management and Insurance came in at No. 4 among publics and No. 6 overall. The Real Estate Program is ranked No. 6 among publics and No. 11 overall.

As a whole, Florida State University jumped to No. 33 among national public universities in the U.S. News & World Report rankings after moving up five places for the second consecutive year.

Other good news came from the Public Accounting Report (PAR), which recently released its prestigious Annual Professor Survey for 2017. PAR ranks the undergraduate accounting program at No. 26 among publics and No. 34 overall. It also cites the college’s Master of Accounting program as No. 25 among publics and No. 31 overall nationally.

“Our significant move up in the rankings reflects the hard work and commitment of our faculty and staff members, and the unwavering support of our alumni,” said Dean Michael Hartline. “We are determined to continue strategic investments in our people and programs in order to continue further up the path of preeminence. It’s gratifying to be recognized for our efforts.”

Earlier this year, the college also ranked high on U.S. News annual online graduate business rankings. The college’s online master’s degrees in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) and Management Information Systems (MS-MIS) degrees placed No. 6 among public schools nationwide (No. 9 overall). The college’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) ranked No. 14 among public schools (No. 16 overall). The new 2018 rankings will be released in January.
