The College of Business nears goal of becoming a Top 25 business school

Sep 10, 2018

U.S. News & World Report released its “Best Colleges 2019” guidebook, and it was good news for the Florida State University College of Business. The college’s undergraduate program moved to No. 26 among the nation’s public business schools, up from No. 27 in last year’s ranking. Nationwide, the college ranks No. 44 among all business schools – also up one spot from last year’s No. 45.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the best business schools in the nation,” said Dean Michael Hartline. “We have made – and will continue to make – strategic investments in our people and programs, and these latest rankings are reflective of those focused investments. With our new building, Legacy Hall, coming online in a few short years, our college is poised to continue its upward trajectory. We are firmly committed to our students’ success and to moving farther down the path of preeminence.”

U.S. News also ranked two of the college’s specialty programs in the Top 10 among public universities. The Dr. William T. Hold/The National Alliance Program in Risk Management and Insurance came in at No. 5 among publics and No. 5 overall. The Real Estate Program is ranked No. 7 among publics and No. 11 overall.

Florida State University vaulted seven spots to No. 26 among national public universities in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings — the biggest single-year improvement in university history. FSU has soared 17 spots among public universities since placing No. 43 in 2016. FSU moved up to No. 38 on the 2017 list. Last year, FSU ranked No. 33 among publics.

Over the past two years, the college has made tremendous strides in national rankings. Last year, for example, the college’s undergraduate program jumped 14 places to No. 27 among the nation’s public business schools, up 18 spots to No. 45 among all public and private business schools.

Earlier this year, the college also ranked high on U.S. News’ annual online graduate business rankings. The college’s online master’s degrees in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) and Management Information Systems (MS-MIS) placed No. 5 among public schools nationwide (No. 6 overall). The college’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) ranked No. 14 among public schools (No. 16 overall). The new 2019 online rankings will be released in January. In addition, the college’s Part-time MBA program ranks No. 25 among public schools and No. 44 overall on U.S. News & World Report’s 2019 “Best Part-Time MBA Programs.”
