Business Mentoring Program
The Business Mentoring Program connects students to successful College of Business alumni and friends. Students and mentors interact under this structured program for one semester, during which they communicate at least 30 minutes a week. Mentors provide encouragement and insight on career development, personal growth and challenges in the workplace.
This program is offered in the fall and spring, with student applications being accepted the first two weeks of each semester. Mentors may register to participate and create a profile at any time throughout the year.

The College of Business has partnered with the Economic Club of Florida (ECF) to provide our graduate students the opportunity to connect with the club to further their networking opportunities. Established in 1977, the Economic Club of Florida is recognized as an important forum for distinguished speakers on issues facing us today. Membership includes nearly 400 of the “Who’s Who” of the Capital City and includes both well-established and up-and-coming professionals. Each month a small group of graduate students are selected to attend luncheon meeting and activities of the club, where they interact with leaders in Tallahassee and hear professionals present on a variety of issues affecting today’s business environment.
Emerging Leaders Certification
Facilitated by the Truist Leadership Institute, the Emerging Leaders Certification is based on the model that beliefs drive behaviors — which in turn produce results. Students learn about the beliefs that drive their leadership behaviors, both in a positive and negative way. Based on theory, the highly interactive session provides students with a better self-understanding and ways they can lead others more effectively. Participants leave with practical tools and strategies to use immediately to overcome any leadership blinds spots identified during the session.
Students participate in two, three-hour sessions which focus on three foundational modules of leadership content: 1) Leaders Aren’t Born (Introduction); 2) What's Your Strategy?; and 3) The Rules of Games. Prior to each session, participants complete the Leadership Preferences Inventory™ to prepare them for in-class exercises, discussions, group work and reflection. Upon completion of the program, students receive the Truist Leadership Institute's Emerging Leaders Certification which can be included on their LinkedIn profile.
This program is offered for College of Business students during the spring semester. Separate sessions are held for undergraduate and graduate students. Space is limited and pre-registration is required to participate in either session.
Newly approved as an Engage 100 offering beginning the fall 2021 semester, this dynamic program links incoming business students with junior and senior Student Leadership Council mentors who are knowledgeable about the College of Business. Participants meet weekly as a group throughout the semester for approximately one hour. Each meeting includes a short presentation focused on various topics to familiarize incoming students with available business programs (ex: internships, college involvement, study abroad, etc.), discussions of best practices for success in the college and time for individual mentor/mentee connection. Throughout the semester, participants also are introduced to different venues around campus and the surrounding community to further familiarize them with the area and available resources.
Peer Connect is offered in the fall and spring semesters. Incoming business students who wish to participate should log in to MyFSU. This Engage 100 opportunity is a zero credit, non-graded course option. To Register:

Student Leadership Council (SLC)
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) advances the preeminence of the College of Business and promotes student engagement, collaboration, and connection both within the college and among the broader stakeholder community. The mission of the Council is built in alignment with the goals of the Dean and the College of Business Board of Governors.
The Council is composed of approximately 25 discipline-specific, exemplary business students representing each of the College of Business departments. The SLC assists with administration of mentoring programs, faculty-student networking events, and other student-focused initiatives within the college. Members meet bi-weekly throughout the year and participate in professional development activities, team building workshops, and community service projects.
To be considered for membership, students must:
- Be an undergraduate degree-seeking student with a declared major within the College of Business or a degree-seeking graduate student within the College of Business who has held previous membership on the Council;
- Have a minimum FSU GPA of 3.3; and
- Be able to serve on the council for a full term of three consecutive semesters.
Applications for the Student Leadership Council will be reviewed approximately three weeks after the start of the fall semester.

Wall Street Prep Program
Each spring, a financial and valuation modeling seminar is conducted at Florida State University by Wall Street Prep. Taught by former investment bankers with applied expertise in financial and valuation modeling methodologies, the seminar bridges the gap between academics and the real world to equip students with the practical financial skill set they need to excel during the recruiting process and on the job.
Any student pursuing internships and/or full-time positions in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, portfolio management, business development, capital markets and equity and credit research should attend this seminar. The cost of this seminar is $199. Every student who applies for this program will be considered for a partial scholarship to help cover this fee.
