Center for Global Supply Chain Management
About the Center
The mission of the Center for Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) is to be a center of excellence in Supply Chain Management that supports the needs of organizations within the State of Florida, nationally and globally through partnerships with key stakeholders. Achieving this mission requires continuous networking between the GSCM faculty, FSU students and our member firms. The end objectives are to be a preferred provider of talent, disseminator of best practice research and developer of innovative curricula that meets the needs of world class organizations.
Collaboration between students, faculty and supply chain professionals provides significant benefits to all parties. These benefits include: career opportunities for students including both full-time positions and internships; a readily accessible pipeline of talent for our member firms; opportunities for joint research projects and field studies; and introduction and development of new subject material and topics that enhance the value of classroom instruction.
The center’s corporate partners are experienced supply chain professionals, who are responsible for the strategic direction of the supply chain function in their firms. Participating corporate partners become members of the Global Supply Chain Advisory Council. Members of the advisory council are invited to an annual meeting during the fall semester, which is held on campus and includes a briefing about GSCM activities, round table discussions of advisory board member needs and panel presentation to students. All discussions are focused on goals that result in best practices. An evening dinner and Saturday brunch followed by a football game provide additional networking opportunities between corporate partners, faculty and students in a more relaxed environment. Learn more about becoming an advisory council member and its benefits by downloading the brochure (PDF).
In addition to the annual meeting, corporate members can partner with faculty member to collect and analyze data to produce needed research for their organizations. The center also provides an email list, where members can interact with and exchange information concerning operational and strategic supply chain challenges.
As a provider of future talent the GSCM provides a linkage to connect member needs with our students. This goal is achieved by:
- Sponsoring internships through the GSCM.
- Matching top GSCM students with our partner firms.
- Maintaining a data base populated with our GSCM students
- Continuing a dialogue with the GSCM advisory board on educational objectives and curriculum topics.
- Encouraging center members to guest lecture in supply chain classes.
