What You Can Expect

Presented over four months, the SBEP is designed to take into account your demanding schedule while enabling you to assess your company's position, develop long-term strategies, create practical action plans and connect with fellow business owners and members of the Jim Moran Institute’s network for advice and support.

What the Program Covers

The SBEP is focused on corporate growth and financial success. It is an unparalleled opportunity to enhance your business skills, innovate with other talented small business owners, and prepare for the new challenges that lie ahead. Whether you seek a more global perspective, better ways to seize opportunities, or greater insight into managing day-to-day operations, the SBEP can help you realize your company's potential - and your own. While examining business fundamentals, strategies and best practices from the perspective of a business leader and owner, you will explore a broad range of topics including:

  • Lean Business Model
  • Strategic Planning
  • Financing Your Growth
  • Marketing and Understanding your Market
  • Financial Analysis
  • Human Resources
  • Protecting your Creation
  • Technology
  • Exit Strategy & Succession Planning

Who Is Right for the Program?

The SBEP is ideal for CEOs, presidents, business owners, successors and entrepreneurs of established companies (more than three years) with three or more employees. Candidates must be actively involved in running the business and be the decision makers. Selected companies will represent a broad range of industries and organizations that are like type, non-competing. This diversity maximizes your exposure to successful business practices and enables you to expand your professional network. Due to the high level of information that will be discussed, only one business per industry will be selected. Each participant will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement so any information shared by participants will be kept within the group. If your business is based in Florida, meets the criteria above, and you can attend all sessions, then we encourage you to apply.

Investment in the Future

In this intensive learning experience, you must be ready to challenge yourself and seek out new ideas. After each session, you will be expected to actively reflect on and apply what you have learned and to prepare to report at the next meeting what new ideas you are implementing. As a graduate of the Small Business Executive Program and by leveraging the best practices learned, you will be prepared to navigate your small business through the challenges ahead.

Relationships for Life

You and your peers will learn and work together, creating a powerful network that can last a lifetime. Small Business Executive Program graduates will be managed as alumni, afforded the opportunity to join a managed Peer2Peer group, and regularly invited to continuing workshops, conferences, and other events.
