Ribbon Cutting Officially Opens the New Jim Moran Building

May 01, 2018

Florida State University President John Thrasher led a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of the new Jim Moran Building in downtown Tallahassee earlier this morning, honoring the legacy of automotive legend and philanthropist Jim Moran.

Over the past year, workers transformed a 20,000-square-foot, 19th-century building into a state-of-the-art facility designed to cultivate entrepreneurial growth. The building serves as the headquarters of the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, which offers entrepreneurial education to small business owners, and the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship which offers entrepreneurial degrees to FSU students.

Speakers included President Thrasher; Professor Susan Fiorito, founding director of the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship; Randy Blass, executive director of the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship; and M. Hays Layerd, creative director at Architects Lewis + Whitlock.

The building is located at 111 South Monroe Street in downtown Tallahassee.
