Part-time MBA program takes tremendous jump in nationwide rankings

Florida State University’s Part-time MBA program at the College of Business has secured a spot among the Top 25 public universities nationwide, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2019 “Best Part-time MBA Programs” rankings released today.

FSU’s program ranks No. 44 overall, surging 27 places from No. 71 last year. The ranking also means FSU rose 19 spots to No. 25 among public schools, up from No. 44 last year.

“This new ranking is a high mark for us and reflects progress on our path to preeminence,” said Michael Hartline, dean of the College of Business. “We are incredibly fortunate to be able to recruit highly qualified candidates from the Tallahassee area for our evening, part-time MBA offering. We find part-time students enter our MBA program with substantial and varied work experiences that enrich classroom discussions and add to our faculty’s rigorous instruction.”

Regardless of format – online or on campus, full time or part time – the FSU MBA program offers the same quality curriculum taught by full-time faculty members. Offered over the course of seven semesters, the Part-time MBA program is tailored for motivated individuals who are employed full time. Students enroll in two courses each semester and attend class two nights each week.

Hartline expects that the Part-time MBA program will greatly benefit from the college’s new $88 million home, Legacy Hall. The new building is planned for a prominent downtown spot in the heart of the Gaines Street Corridor. The college hopes to break ground in late 2019.

“Not only will business students be in a better position to collaborate with city and state leaders and corporate partners, but many employees of downtown businesses and state agencies will also discover they now have a graduate business education option within walking distance from their office,” Hartline said.

On-campus coursework is eligible for Florida’s state-employee tuition waiver, giving state workers the opportunity to pursue a graduate business degree at a reduced cost. The college also offers waivers to the GMAT entrance test requirement for highly qualified applicants. To learn more about GMAT waivers, visit business.fsu.edu/waive.

“Our continued march toward preeminence is due to all of the hard work of our faculty and staff, the support of our alumni and friends, and our ability to recruit great students to our programs,” Hartline said. “Across the board, our college has truly emerged as one of the very best business schools in the nation.”

Among the college’s public school rankings:

  • No. 4 – Dr. William T. Hold/The National Alliance Program in Risk Management and Insurance (U.S. News & World Report 2018)
  • No. 5 – Online Non-MBA Graduate Programs: Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MS-MIS) and Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) (U.S. News & World Report 2018)
  • No. 6 – Real Estate Program (U.S. News & World Report 2018)
  • No. 14 – Online MBA Program, and No. 10 Best Online MBA for Veterans (U.S. News & World Report 2018)
  • No. 20 – Master of Science in Finance Program (MSF) (The Financial Engineer 2018)
  • No. 25 – Part-time MBA Program (U.S. News & World Report 2019)

  • No. 26 – Undergraduate Accounting Program (Public Accounting Report 2018)
  • No. 27 – Overall Undergraduate Program (U.S. News & World Report 2018)

“Accomplishments like these are not possible without the consistent work we do every day to excel in our research, teaching and supporting students, and in serving our disciplines, our university and our relevant communities,” Hartline said.
