Areas of Expertise


Tim Kinney is a senior lecturer in the Dr. Persis E. Rockwood School of Marketing at Florida State University’s College of Business, where he teaches marketing and entrepreneurship courses at the undergraduate level. He serves as a faculty advisor to the Case Competition Club at FSU, and coordinates student participation in numerous case competition both nationally and internationally. He also serves as a faculty advisor to the Panamanian Student Association at FSU. 

Kinney spent 28 years with IBM in various engineering, sales and management roles while teaching as an adjunct at Florida State. After retiring from IBM, he was involved in the start-up of several new businesses before joining Florida State in a full-time position in 2011. 

Kinney received his bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Clarkson University and his MBA from the University of Vermont.

Interesting Facts

 Have 3 children: Caitlin, Caroline and Tommy. Love of baseball.
