BS Accounting ’97; MAcc '97

Scott Price serves as founder and CEO of A-LIGN, which boasts a global workforce of 565 employees, offices in Tampa; Denver; Sofia, Bulgaria and Panama City, Panama, and more than 3,500 global clients, including Alloy, Sprint and Raymond James.

He and his company continue to receive national applause: A-LIGN has made repeat appearances since 2017 on Inc.'s annual list of the 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America, and it ranks No. 146 in the Southeast in the publication's Regionals 2022 list. It also ranks among the Tampa Bay Business Journal's most recent Fast 50.

And in February, the Seminole 100 recognized A-LIGN for a fifth straight year as one of the fastest-growing companies owned or led by a Florida State University graduate.

The company also has been recognized for its culture, ranking No. 12 in Consulting Magazine's most recent list of "Best Small Firms to Work For."

Price has been named a Managing Partner Elite by Accounting Today, an online provider of business news, and a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 Florida by EY.

He remains an active and supportive FSU alumnus, including a stint as chair of the accounting department's Professional Advisory Board, on which he has served since 2017

In July, Price made a major gift – $2.7 million – to support Legacy Hall, the college's future home, and to help establish a future for students in the college. The gift included $2 million to create the Scott G. Price and Family Endowed Scholarship in Accounting, which will fund the Scott G. Price Accounting Scholars Program. The gift also included $700,000 to upgrade from naming a classroom to naming the Scott G. Price and Family Forum Stairs in Legacy Hall. That increased Price's support of the showcase facility to $1 million.

As a big softball fan and a lifelong member of Seminole Boosters, Price previously created the Price Family Softball Scholarship to support women student athletes.

Price grew in Clearwater with a genetic connection to FSU's College of Business. Both of his parents graduated with FSU accounting degrees – as did an uncle and a cousin – and he rarely missed a football game as a child.

He applied to only one school – FSU – where he served as president of the FSU Accounting Society.

After earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting in the same year – 1997 – he worked as a technology risk consulting manager at Arthur Andersen. He then launched – at age 26, on the strength of a $5,000 credit-card limit -- auditing and accounting firm SAS 70 Solutions.

He and his partner gained 300 customers in seven years, but Price held a bigger vision. He launched A-LIGN in 2009, and he remains vigilant in "pushing businesses to proactively mitigate vulnerabilities with an increased threat landscape in a fully digital world."

In the meantime, he has volunteered his time, expertise and community spirit, including as former chair of the board of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA).

He is a member of the Tampa Bay Business Journal Leadership Trust, and he chairs the board's executive committee at Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay.
