Gene Taylor/Bank of America Center for Banking and Financial Studies

The Gene Taylor/Bank of America Center for Banking and Financial Studies was established with a generous grant from the Bank of America. Housed in the Department of Finance of the College of Business, the center encourages excellence in education, and funds research and service activities related to banking and finance.

The center is the liaison between the academic community, the banking and finance industry and the public. The center provides:

  • Faculty support, including salary enhancements, such as professorships, and provides resources to generate research.
  • Student support, which includes Ph.D. stipends to retain and attract the best students.
  • Competitive research grants, which allow faculty to focus fully during the summer on research that is most likely to be accepted by the most prestigious finance journals. These grants also provide Ph.D. students additional research opportunities.
  • Databases on empirical studies of market data, which is costly, but critical to the teaching of investments and corporate finance.
