Frederic R. Simmons Jr., CPA, has wide-ranging experience in the medical practice industry as a CEO, executive director, consultant and outside accountant. He retired in 2024 after serving since 1995 as CEO of Clearwater Cardiovascular and Interventional Consultants in Clearwater, Florida. Previously, he served as executive director of University Medical Service Association Inc., the faculty practice plan of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Before that, he practiced public accounting in the accounting and audit division of a national CPA firm.  

Throughout his career, Simmons provided consulting and expert witness services in the medical industry and lectured extensively for MedAxiom and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). He has written numerous articles on practice management topics and is a contributing author of MGMA’s “Medical Practice Management Body of Knowledge Review Series: Financial Management.” 

Simmons served as the chairman of the MGMA Survey Advisory Committee and as a member of the MedAxiom Advisory Committee. He is a past president of MGMA’s Academic Practice Assembly. He also has served as board member and president of multiple Tampa Bay Area organizations: Rotary Club of Clearwater, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay and the Seminole Club of Hillsborough County. Additionally, he served on the board for the Corporate Associates of the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation.

He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida.
