Laura Goldberg (RMI/Professional Sales ’16) likes to explore her options. She was good at math, so majoring in accounting seemed the natural way to go. She soon discovered, however, that accounting was not all math. That led her to actuarial science, but when she realized number crunching alone left her out of the management process, she needed a way to meld her left-brain sensibilities for math with her creative sense for business. After completing the general courses for a business major, Goldberg found her perfect pairing – Risk Management/Insurance and Professional Sales.
After graduating, Goldberg joined the Franklin Street team as an analyst, where she collaboratively fostered her knowledge of commercial real estate operations and the insurance coverage, products and services they require. Through building a national network in the niche real estate insurance industry, her passion attracted the attention of a Top 10 brokerage firm, Alliant Insurance Services.
As a producer on the Northeast Real Estate Practice Team, Goldberg’s goal is to build a substantial middle market national real estate book of business while contributing as a key team player in the company’s growth.
Her advice to current students: “Job searching requires a lot of self-reflection and the better you pinpoint what you’re looking for in a company, the easier it will be to find a job. Interviews are difficult, but you have to look at them like roadmaps. The interview process is a two-way street.”
