What is one of your favorite memories about your time at FSU?
FSU has provided me with countless unique opportunities. Working at the Final Four and Super Bowl LIII this past year gave me the opportunity to bolster my understanding of the behind-the-scenes operations of mega-sporting events. With my second major being sport management, I knew these volunteer trips would provide ample opportunities to use both my degrees. I volunteered long days and hours to help facilitate event operations. The experiences I acquired are some I will never forget. Being able to work with student teams from FSU and showcase our leadership capabilities will translate well to my managerial career.

What advice would you give prospective FSU management majors?
Say “yes” more and “no” less. One thing my mother taught me was that I will always have the opportunity to rest when I’m old. FSU provides students with so many opportunities to be involved. Not only should you take advantage of the resources the college offers, but also build relationships with some of the 6,000 other like-minded undergraduate students. Focus on your grades and schoolwork because that is what you are here for, but also take time to enjoy Tallahassee, FSU and every single aspect of being a student.

Are there any particular classes you would recommend to current students?
One elective course I particularly found beneficial was Contemporary Leadership Challenges (MAN 4143). In almost every internship and job interview, I was asked about my leadership skills and experience. Taking a course that taught these practical skills helped me hone them throughout my work and internship experiences. I was then able to translate these experiences into valuable interview responses.

What recent accomplishment was meaningful to you?
Being the second person in my family to graduate from college is a huge accomplishment for me. Throughout my life, I’ve faced obstacles that could have easily deterred me from attending college. Now I’m graduating summa cum laude with a full-time job already. Additionally, I plan to begin my MBA this fall. Proving to myself that I am capable of competing academically with other students – despite any obstacle – is a huge personal achievement.
