New Intercollegiate Insurance Sales Challenge seeks mentors and sponsors

January 13, 2020

The college kicks off its inaugural Intercollegiate Insurance Sales Challenge (IISC) this spring. Top student teams from universities nationwide will compete on their knowledge of the insurance industry and their sales skills. Slated for March 25-26 in Orlando, the contest also provides a platform for students to sharpen their critical-thinking, presentation and persuasion skills and to connect with industry recruiters and employers. At the same time, businesses can see firsthand the high caliber of students entering their field.

The event is a joint effort between The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research and the Dr. William T. Hold/The National Alliance Program in Risk Management and Insurance, the latter named in appreciation for their $5 million donation in 2012.

“When I made my gift to Florida State’s RMI program, my vision was to create opportunities that build a pipeline between industry and business schools,” said alumnus Dr. William T. Hold (BS RMI ’63), president and co-founder of The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. “This competition is an excellent example of that vision becoming a reality.”

In addition to FSU, participating schools include the Illinois State University, Troy University, the University of Akron, the University of Georgia and the University of Mississippi. The challenge is made possible through the sponsorship of BKS Partners (Legacy Sponsor), BXS Insurance (Gold Sponsor), Florida Association of Insurance Agents through the Good Works Fund (Garnet Sponsor), Don Jones Scholarship Fund and Harry Levine Insurance.
