Carl-Philip Ahlbom is an assistant professor in the Rockwood School of Marketing at Florida State University’s College of Business. His research encompasses three key areas: retailing, services marketing and healthcare marketing. In retailing and services marketing, he studies shopper marketing and the impact of service technology, while his healthcare work focuses on pro-social challenges like increasing blood donations and improving employee wellness. Ahlbom’s research, often conducted through industry partnerships, is published in top journals including the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Marketing Research, and has been featured in outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, the BBC and Harvard Business Review.
Ahlbom earned his B.Sc. in retail management, an M.Sc. in business and management (marketing) and Ph.D. in business administration (marketing) – all from the Stockholm School of Economics.
- Enthusiastic vocalist: An avid singer who attended choir school for nine years, he has performed as a chorist in professional productions of The Tales of Hoffmann, Turandot and Carmen – even touring Japan with his choir twice.
- Child entrepreneur: As a youngster, he experimented with sales tactics through various mini-enterprises. At age ten, he sold thousands of charity pins for about a dollar each to passersby in a matter of a couple of weeks, raising money for local children in need.
- Airline-mile aficionado: He's a self-described travel enthusiast who loves the thrill of maximizing airline loyalty programs and finding creative redemptions for those hard-to-use miles.
