Online MBA, Master's Degrees Retain Top 20 Status
The Herbert Wertheim College of Business at Florida State University once again secured Top 20 standings among public schools in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 national rankings of best online master’s degrees released today.
“We continue to shine alongside a competitive lineup of leading universities offering online graduate business education,” said Michael D. Hartline, dean of the Wertheim College. “Refined over decades, our relevant and rigorous programs provide professionals the flexibility they need to continue making meaningful strides at work while gaining advanced skills and insights they can immediately put to use.”
All of the Wertheim College’s online degree programs received high marks this year:
- Online master’s degrees in Management Information Systems (MS-MIS) and Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) ranked No. 14 among public schools, No. 18 overall
- The online Master of Business Administration (MBA) placed No. 17 among public schools, No. 21 overall
- The Online MBA program also earned the No. 14 spot among public programs for military veterans, No. 16 overall
The Wertheim College continues to grow its online graduate offerings, recently launching a new Online MBA with a Major in Healthcare Administration and adding a Healthcare specialization to its online master’s in RMI. These new program academic options will receive a significant boost from the college’s new Wertheim Business of Healthcare Initiative aimed at preparing students to close critical workforce gaps and strengthen leadership and administration across the healthcare ecosystem. The initiative is part of a recently announced $65 million philanthropic investment by Dr. Herbert Wertheim that renames the college and provides landmark resources to strengthen faculty excellence, expand student access and power innovative programs like the new healthcare curriculum.
The Wertheim College’s healthcare options already include an established MBA specialization in Healthcare Management. They also align with FSU Health, the university’s bold initiative to transform healthcare by bringing together researchers, educators and clinical partners. The university is building academic health centers in both Tallahassee and Panama City, Fla. – with each slated to open in the near future.
“We are intentional about staying at the forefront of innovation,” said Darren Brooks, MBA Director. “We are delivering the strategic skills and expertise today’s industries demand, pairing these emerging capabilities with the foundational managerial competencies expected of MBA graduates.”
Just last year, the Wertheim College developed and launched an Online MBA with a Major in Alternative Investments and Finance to meet the ongoing industry shift toward less reliance on traditional investments of stocks, bonds and cash and more dependence on alternative investments such as private credit and real estate.
March 1 is the next application deadline for summer entry into the Wertheim College’s online master’s degree programs: Business Administration (MBA), including the Online MBA with a Major in Alternative Investments and Finance; Management Information System (MS-MIS); and Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI).
Apply by June 1 to be considered for a spot in the first cohort pursuing the new Online MBA with a Major in Healthcare Administration. Classes begin this fall.
