Cinny Murray's (MAR '80) distinguished career in retail spans more than 35 years, during which she has held senior leadership positions at Harold's, Charming Shops, Saks Fifth Avenue, Talbot's, Stage Stores and Chico's, all among the most recognizable names in apparel. Today, she is president of Full Beauty, which is headquartered in New York, N.Y.

A seasoned turnaround executive, Murray's legacy of success is the result of her astute business acumen and authentic, inspirational leadership style. She has a passion for building and retaining high-performance teams, developing leaders, and mentoring new talent.

Murray is a tireless advocate for her customer, for which she has an unyielding and laser sharp focus. She responds to customer letters, visits stores and emphasizes consumer research. She inspires trust by treating each and every customer as a friend.

Prior to Full Beauty, Murray was responsible for notable achievements, which included:

  • As president of Chico’s FAS, Inc. from 2009-2016, Murray led the strategic vision for all aspects of the business including merchandising, marketing, international sales and product design and development while increasing profit, gross margin and contribution margin of the Chico brand in more than 700 retail locations and online.
  • At Stage Stores, Inc., where she served as chief merchandising officer from 2004 to 2009, Murray was responsible for $1 billion in revenue, 400 locations, marketing, planning and allocation. While there, she increased gross margin to the highest percentage in the company's history.
  • As senior vice president of merchandising at Talbot's from 1998 to 2004, she was responsible for growing earnings and gross margin, with $1.6 billion in revenues, 900 retail stores and 13 catalogs.
  • Gross margin increased at Saks Fifth Avenue by three points in the first six months that Murray held the position of vice president. While at Saks from 1997 to 1998, she was responsible for $170 million in revenue, 40 retail locations, financial planning and management of 13 core businesses.
  • As divisional manager of Charming Shops from 1994 to 1997, Murray helped increase gross margin by seven points and sales by 10 points each year. She oversaw $300 million in revenue, 12,000 locations, financial planning and management of 10 departments, and domestic and Far East development and fashion direction.
  • While serving as Harold's senior vice president and general merchandise manager of men's and women's apparel from 1993 to 1994, Murray helped to significantly increase sales and gross margin. During her tenure, stock moved from $6 to $12. She was responsible for $73 million in revenue, financial planning for the catalog division, accessories and footwear.

Murray is a champion of women's issues, especially those involving the prevention of domestic violence. She has supported and served in numerous capacities for organizations and initiatives such as the Naples Shelter for Abused Women and Children, Stand Up to Cancer, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, the American Heart Association and Habitat for Humanity.
