Matthew Evans is an assistant professor in the Department of Accounting at Florida State University’s College of Business. His Ph.D. dissertation explored why companies include environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures in their 10-K filings. Prior to his doctorate, Evans was a cost accounting manager at Interface, Inc., a company known for its commitment to both profitability and sustainability. He also is a Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA).

Evans earned his A.B.J. in public relations from the University of Georgia, a B.A. in mathematics from LaGrange College, an M.A. in secondary education from the University of Phoenix and a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Alabama.

Interesting Facts

Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Evans holds a United States Soccer Federation “C” coaching license, and in a prior life, he served as a college soccer head coach. He loves to play and watch soccer is a Chelsea fan. Interestingly, he was also on Family Feud with his family.
