Personal and Commercial Insurance Contracts
Paul Schriefer is an associate lecturer in the Department of Risk Management/Insurance, Real Estate and Legal Studies at Florida State University’s College of Business. Schriefer teaches a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level with a focus on commercial insurance contracts.
Schriefer joined FSU in 2019 as a member of the teaching faculty. He served two and a half years as the director of the Center for Risk Management Education and Research. Additionally, he currently serves as the faculty advisor for the FSU chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, the insurance industry’s premiere student organization. He also is actively involved in furthering student involvement in continuing insurance education and was recently appointed to serve as the department’s collegiate designation coordinator. Schriefer holds several insurance industry designations, including CPCU, CLU and ChFC. He is currently working towards earning The National Alliance’s Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.
Prior to joining the faculty at FSU, Schriefer enjoyed a 25-year career in the insurance industry, with a focus on personal auto and homeowners claims. His time in the insurance industry included a stint as an insurance defense attorney in Atlanta, Georgia. Schriefer earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in political science and international relations from Miami University (Ohio), and a juris doctor from the University of Georgia. He is currently a member in good standing of the Georgia State Bar.
