Dr. Dean Gatzlaff elevated the FSU College of Business as a decorated professor of real estate, a globally renown academic and industry researcher and the long-time director of the FSU Real Estate Center. His retirement early last year inspired the executive board of the FSU Real Estate Center to establish – through an outpouring of donations – a professorship in his name.
Known to deflect or divert credit for his accomplishments, Gatzlaff played a significant role in the development of the world-class FSU Real Estate TRENDS Conference and the real estate program’s rise to Top 5 among public schools nationwide. He also was a three-time recipient of university-wide teaching awards and a six-time nominee of the university’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
He earned a B.S. in architecture from the University of Minnesota, an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and a Ph.D. in real estate and urban analysis from the University of Florida.
