A former minor league baseball player, Oldham talks about his decision to enter the Master of Science (MSF) program FSU.
What are you enjoying most about your FSU experience?
Interaction with my classmates is the best part of being a student at FSU. It has been a blessing to be surrounded by so many high-achieving and like-minded individuals. I arrived at FSU not knowing a single soul in Tallahassee, but in a matter of a few classes, I have made friends whom I hope to maintain the rest of my life.
What attracted you most to FSU’s MSF program?
I had read a lot about the program and wanted to know more. Gail Palo, academic program specialist for the MSF and Ph.D. programs, gave my father and me a tour of the campus and shared success stories about MSF graduates, which were very inspiring. After meeting with Dr. Christiansen and Gary Smith, senior lecturer and director of the MSF Program, I knew this was the place for me. I have found the program to be academically rigorous and stimulating. Additionally, faculty members seem to genuinely care about each of us students.
What are your plans or goals post-graduation?
I plan to become a financial adviser for high-net worth clients. In this role, I hope to start mentorship programs that will work to educate young athletes on proper financial responsibility.
