What are your primary job responsibilities?

I lead a team of auto claims operations managers, owning strategic initiatives geared towards driving sustainable improvements for the organization. The portfolio includes training/onboarding, staffing, expenses, capacity, compliance, processes and customer experience

Why did you choose the MS-RMI Program at FSU?

I decided to pursue the MS-RMI program based on the program’s reputation, faculty make-up and brand of the school.

How did your graduate education help shape your professional experiences?

It helped immensely by making me well-rounded and opening many more doors than just what my working career aligned with. Additionally, the degree alone was my ticket to interviews and project assignments.

What did you like best about pursuing an MS-RMI degree from FSU?

I liked the content of the material. Every class was relevant, current and thought-provoking.

How has working in your industry changed the way you look at the world?

I have always been a responsible person for the most part, but working in insurance makes one ultra-responsible. I have multiple spreadsheets, notes, and lists of pros and cons for all sort of things. I also have a strong sense of public responsibility. Seeing people with limited options, and being faced without financial support through insurance, is a real-world reminder to help support those around you.

What advice would you give yourself in college?

Get to know your classmates in a meaningful way and stay connected to them after classes end and graduation passes.

Who do you admire and why?

I admire my grandfather because he’s consistent, supports everyone’s dreams, serves others, takes on more than his fair share, has a sacrificial heart and is a hard worker. I’ll stop there, but he is awesome.

How do you handle work-life balance?

I don’t work on the weekends. You’d be surprised that almost everything can wait until Monday.

What would someone be surprised to learn about you?

I have recently taken up road cycling.

Favorite office snack?

Popcorn is a daily event for me

What’s your favorite source for keeping up with industry news?

I keep up through P&C Specialist and daily relevant content that comes to my inbox.

What’s the one thing you couldn’t do without at work?

I can’t live without a white board. Organization is an uphill battle for me, so a nice white board is a lifesaver.

Best piece of advice you’ve given?

Make them tell you “No.” Don’t stop yourself from getting an opportunity.

What keeps you awake at night?

The future of the economy and customer behaviors, more specifically how customers will view and utilize the insurance industry in the future.

What are your success habits?

Setting up one-on-one meetings with people outside of your daily network so that you constantly meet people.

If you could go back to the beginning of your time at FSU, would you do anything differently?

I’d develop a closer relationship with the professors. Aside from them being great people, I’d leverage their relationships and advice.

If you were tasked with designing a new course at FSU for all students to take, what would it be?

What books/articles would you assign? I’d design a class on “Professional Presence,” which would focus on branding, networking, presenting, leadership, career planning and managing professional setbacks. Books that I would assign are “Emotional Intelligence 2.0,” “The Power of Broke,” “Change Your Questions, Change Your Life” and “Dare to Lead.
