As I gained more clarity on what my long-term career aspirations were, the MS-RMI program at FSU offered not only the strongest alignment with those aspirations, but also the best value for the money.
The curriculum and staff were fantastic, but the ability to interact with other professionals who work in a variety of industries gave me better insight into how risk impacts many different industries and organization sizes. This insight allows me to better prepare producers for the role they are embarking on, the types of clients they should be targeting and what value they can bring to them.
Spending so much time with business leaders and owners has allowed me to better understand potential motives of decisions which might seem illogical or poor on the surface. It’s allowed me to be more open minded to new ideas that don’t immediately jive with my way of thinking shaped by the experiences I’ve had so far.
I have the good fortune of recruitment of new producers being a major part of my role. With the strength of FSU’s RMI and Professional Sales programs, I get to spend a lot of time interacting with students, staff and leadership in the college and the RMI Program, specifically. I still maintain relationships with several of my professors and cohort members from the MS-RMI program, as well.
One day you will wish you had been just a little more focused and found value in a lot of the subjects that don’t necessarily interest you right now.
I worked as a wrangler on a ranch in Wyoming for four months while an undergraduate student at FSU.
