1. What are your primary responsibilities?

In my role at FedEx, I am responsible for the Risk Management program for Supply Chain, which includes the company’s risk profile, insurance programs and claims management while leading a diverse group of risk management professionals.

2. Why did you choose the online Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) Program at FSU?

I had been working in the industry for years, but I wanted more knowledge and credentials to support my career path. I found that there were areas that I wanted more expertise, even though I had practical experience. I also needed the formal credentials to move my career forward.

I looked at several options before pursuing a degree. Florida State’s Online Master’s Program in Risk Management/Insurance (MS-RMI) was well respected and endorsed by several industry professionals that had attended while fully immersed in their career who found immense value in the program. Working full-time was demanding and the flexibility of the online format allowed me to work on the degree at times that fit my schedule when work obligations were time-sensitive. It was definitely a challenging and rich program. At the time, online programs were often viewed as “watered down” or not as credible as traditional in classroom programs. This was definitely not the case for this program.

3. How has the MS-RMI degree helped you in your current position and in achieving your career goals?

I would not be in the position that I am currently in at FedEx without this degree. The combination of work experience and educational credentials gave me credibility in the industry and with FedEx. The specialization and distinct degree has proven to be very valuable for me, even more than I anticipated when I started the program.

4. How have you stayed connected to FSU and/or the RMI Program?

I currently serve as a mentor for the program, where I am able to share my experiences with students and provide encouragement along the way. I enjoy staying involved with the program and hope to be able to continue to do so into the future. Staying involved also helps me stay current on new trends and I love encouraging and being a resource for future risk professionals!
