New SLC board working to enhance, expand its activities

July 21, 2020

Summer has not slowed the work of the college’s Student Leadership Council’s new executive board. Led by senior accounting major Gabby Dolan, the board is strengthening its peer mentoring program and expanding its annual diversity leadership initiatives. Serving as the liaison between students, the college’s administrators, the Board of Governors and alumni, the SLC offers programs aligned with the goals of the college’s leadership, helping students discover their career paths through mentoring and engagement activities, including:

  • Peer Connect – This program pairs freshman and sophomore business students with juniors and seniors, who can help familiarize them with the ins and outs of the college, its resources and extracurricular activities.
  • Diversity in Leadership Week –The weeklong event features representatives from some of the world’s best-known companies. Its goals are to seek common ground and collaboration among various cultural, racial and ethnic groups and to instill the importance of advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Back to Business – Co-hosted by the SLC, this welcome event will be held virtually this year in early September. Back to Business provides an opportunity for students to network and learn more about student organizations, academic departments, campus services and upcoming events.

In addition to Dolan, this year’s board members include finance senior Nailah Owens, executive vice president; marketing senior Amy Rainelli, vice president of communications; accounting sophomore Olivia Stoltenberg, vice president of development; accounting and finance senior Laurie-Yolita Louissaint, vice president of finance; management information systems sophomore Ross Scaglione, vice president of membership; and marketing and professional sales senior Megan Robbins, vice president of programming.
