Dating back to 1977, Insurance Days is a career placement event that features access to FSU risk management/insurance (RMI) majors over three days, through a career fair, on-campus interviews and networking breakfasts and lunches. Held every fall and spring, this event assists RMI seniors in obtaining employment after graduation, as well as assists RMI underclassmen in securing internship positions. This event also enables students to network with recruiters to learn more about individual companies and their career opportunities.
For questions about Insurance Days, please contact Eileen Nyce, Program Coordinator, at rmi-center@business.fsu.edu.
2024 Fall Insurance Days
October 30-November 1
FOR STUDENTS
As an RMI major, your goal is to obtain employment in the risk management and insurance industry. Insurance Days offers you the opportunity to secure a job or internship by providing you direct access to recruiters in the RMI industry.
To successfully participate in Insurance Days, please read the following preparation checklist:
-
Register in advance for Insurance Days by completing the registration form found on the RMI Student Canvas Page. If you are a RMI major and still do not have access to the page, please email Eileen Nyce at rmi-center@business.fsu.edu.
-
Update your GEB1030 resume. To be included in the RMI Student Resume Book, your resume must follow the template required by and provided to you during your GEB1020 class. No exceptions will be made.
-
Create or update your LinkedIn page. Be sure to include a link to your LinkedIn page on your resume. LinkedIn is a great tool to make and maintain business relationships. Review all your social media accounts for professionalism. Scrub your accounts of any questionable or inappropriate material.
-
Schedule a time with the FSU Career Center or the college’s Business Career Center to review your resume for any corrections or improvements needed. A professional resume makes a great first impression!
-
Submit your finalized resume for inclusion in the RMI Student Resume Book. Deadline to submit is Monday, September 16 by midnight. Submissions should be made through the RMI Student Resume Book Qualtrics Survey.
-
The Resume Book is provided in advance to all recruiters participating in Insurance Days. Monitor your emails for direct communication from the participating company recruiters.
-
Each RMI student is provided with one set of complimentary business cards during their time at Florida State University. To obtain business cards, you must attend the RMI Student Prep Meeting scheduled for the evening of September 5 and sign-up onsite. Cards will be available just prior to Insurance Days.
-
Consult the RMI Student Canvas Page for a complete listing of “Participating Companies” that will be in attendance and those companies that will be interviewing. Research the companies by visiting their websites to determine where they are located, what they specialize in, their corporate culture, etc. In addition, review the posted job openings to see where their employment needs are.
-
Visit all company tables at the career fair. You are making connections with the individuals, not just the companies. The individual connections you make at the career fair may be instrumental in the advancement of your career from entry-level and beyond.
- Prepare your professional attire in advance of Insurance Days. All students are required to dress professionally (suits, ties, non-revealing clothing, etc.). For those in need of professional attire, please contact the Professional Clothing Closet at the FSU Career Center for assistance. See below:
