Florida State University’s College of Business is proud to be part of the CFA University Affiliation Program. The college’s Bachelor of Science in finance bas been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice into their curriculum. By enrolling as a finance major at FSU, students will be better positioned to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.

Benefits for Students

Curriculum Integration: Courses in the Bachelor of Science in finance are designed to reflect the current investment management practices and meet the standards set by the CFA Institute. This means that students receive education that is directly relevant to the industry and are better prepared to sit for the CFA Level I examination upon completion of their degree.

Scholarship Opportunities: Students enrolled as a finance major at FSU have access to a limited number of CFA scholarships, significantly reducing the financial burden associated with sitting for the CFA exams. These opportunities are outlined in more detail below.

Student Scholarships

FSU students have the opportunity to apply for the CFA Program Student Scholarship, which can help reduce the cost of the CFA exam registration fees. Here’s what you need to know:

Application Process

Application Period: Scholarship applications must be submitted between September 1 and December 1 of each year.

Application Link: Apply for the scholarship at https://cfai.smapply.io/prog/cfa_program_student_scholarship.

The required materials can be found on the scholarship website above, but include:

  • Video describing why you are pursing the CFA designation, what your long-term career goals are/how the CFA designation supports those goals, and why you should receive the scholarship (5-minute max in MP4 format)
  • CV or Current Resume outlining relevant experience as well as engagement at FSU
  • Unofficial FSU transcript
Scholarship Awards

Award Dates: Scholarships will be awarded in October and December each year, with decisions made at each month’s end. This timeline allows students to register for the May and August CFA exams in the subsequent year.

Reapplication: Notification of scholarship awards will be received directly from the CFA Institute. If you do not receive an acceptance from the CFA Institute by December 31, this means you were not selected for a scholarship in the given year. You may reapply the following year once the new application window opens on September 1.

Selection Criteria

Engagement: Preference is given to finance students who are actively engaged with the College of Business (COB).

Academic Performance: A strong GPA is a significant factor in the selection process.

Supplemental Video: Responses to the supplemental video question are also considered, allowing students to demonstrate their passion and commitment to the CFA Program.
