Dr. Doug Smith is an assistant lecturer in the Department of Finance at Florida State University. His academic specialty is financial markets and investments. 

Smith moved to Tallahassee in 2005 after selling an investment management practice headquartered in South Florida. Previously, Smith worked on an institutional fixed-income trading desk where he dealt with institutional-sized (round lot 1 million) trades with and to large financial intermediaries. Smith has owned a number of businesses including an FHA/VA approved mortgage company and title company. 

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree – all in business administration.
