The Intercollegiate Insurance Sales Challenge (IISC) is a competition that tests students’ knowledge of the insurance industry, as well as their sales skills. The first round of the competition takes place on each participating university’s campus in February, with the second and third rounds taking place virtually on April 6-7.
For the challenge, students are provided with a case that describes a business and identifies issues the business owners are having with their current agent. In the first round of the competition, students meet individually with the business owners to gain additional insights into the issues. In the second and third rounds, students meet with the owners again, in teams, to try to “close the deal” by outlining how they can better serve the owners’ needs. Throughout the on-campus competition and the intercollegiate competition, industry professionals serve as mentors for the students and judges of each team’s presentation. In addition to providing a platform for students to sharpen their critical thinking, presentation and persuasion skills and to connect with industry recruiters and employers, businesses can see firsthand the high caliber of students entering their field.
The 2021 sponsors include BKS Partners (Legacy Sponsor), BXS Insurance (Gold Sponsor), Florida Association of Insurance Agents through the Good Works Fund (Garnet Sponsor), Don Jones Scholarship Fund and Harry Levine Insurance.
