Three new courses developed
Staying current with global, cultural and technological trends in the corporate environment, the Department of Marketing is offering three new courses, Contemporary Product Development, Social Media Analytics and Social Media Marketing.

Developed and taught by Keith Ferguson, assistant lecturer, Contemporary Product Development utilizes the Go-To Market Aura Plan (GT-MAP) to perform rapid ideation for product development based on providing new products that will satisfy consumer's needs while satisfying the firm's mission and vision. This course provides a toolbox for students to use to innovate, develop, launch, benchmark success and then repeat this process to remain competitive in the global market. The textbook for this course will be available in the fall as a preliminary edition with the first edition available for the spring semester.

Developed and taught by Jonathan Jackson, assistant lecturer, Social Media Analytics exposes students to current social media theory concepts, analytic tools, customer engagement analytics, various platforms and other technologies associated with the analysis of data on social media networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. By the end of the course, students are able to translate insights into actionable advice for business executives.

Social Media Marketing, also developed and taught by Jonathan Jackson, introduces new powers for companies of all sizes to reach customers and meet diverse strategic objectives, whether building a brand, launching new products or creating strong customer loyalty. The need for professionals who understand the constantly changing processes for engaging customers through social and digital spaces drives demand for qualified social media marketers. This course introduces students to the field of social media marketing with a detailed study of the marketing concepts, customer engagement practices, platforms, analytics and other technologies associated with marketing to customers using social media.
