Nikki Chappell is a graduate assistant at Florida State University’s College of Business. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Wake Forest University. Chappell is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in North Carolina and holds the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation. She draws on her work experience as inspiration for her financial archival research and her research interests include regulations and financial reporting of financial services firms. Chappell is a recipient of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students and has won numerous research awards for her dissertation.

Chappell has more than 20 years of professional experience in accounting, primarily with financial services companies and auditing firms. She began her career in public accounting at a large accounting firm before spending time at a local accounting firm. She also worked at a consulting firm as interim controller and accounting manager for small- to middle-sized companies. She worked for Bank of America in internal audit supporting the consumer bank during the financial crisis of 2007-2009. At TIAA, she was an accounting manager who oversaw the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for teams in five different countries. Chappell brings the knowledge that she learned from her professional experience as an auditor, controller and accounting manager into the classroom. Regardless of the courses that she teaches, Chappell strives to integrate real-world experiences into course material.
